The logical progression from our first Zero Energy Bill homes project (ZEB 1) was… ZEB 2, and taking all the learning from ZEB 1, we established a consortium called Glendale Eco Homes in 2015 to deliver a national exemplar project for how homes could and should be built.

The result is  development 47 eco homes that use MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) to ensure the highest standards of energy efficient and build quality while maintaining commercial viability.

Securing funding support through the Horizon 2020 CHESS-SETUP project and gaining planning permission in 2016 gave our consortium the platform we needed to start. However, securing commercial funding for a non-traditional approach in the construction industry proved challenging.

Indeed, it was not until 2018 when we meet with Project Etopia that we found a like-minded team and funders with whom the project could move forward and construction began in autumn 2018.

Solar panels generate renewable electricity and heat which is stored in batteries in the homes and an Earth Energy Banks within the foundations. Each home is also installed with our Smart Home Energy Management System which optimises energy use.

Etopia Corby homes are precision built to be highly insulated and airtight, with triple glazing which further improves heat and sound insulation.
